Can You Play Game A Way Out Solo Without a Second Player?

This time, I’m going to review and show you how to play the game A Way Out on PC—though, as it happens, I’m playing it on the PlayStation 4. This is a pretty unique and interesting game to explore from a single-player perspective, friends. Let's start with the storyline of A Way Out, which is quite fascinating to discuss. The story begins with two inmates trying to find a way to escape a prison in the United States. You could say these two prisoners seem like decent guys who don't look for trouble, but for some reason, they ended up behind bars.

The opening scene starts when the two of them have to face off against a prison gang. However, since we are the ones controlling both players in the game, we can win the fight against several other inmates, including the gang leader. Long story short, while the two characters are in a large shower room, they are ambushed again by the leader and members of this notorious gang.

Once again, they fight back and manage to win fight after fight over quite a long period. But while the brawl is still going on, several prison guards arrive to break it up and end the fight, ultimately sending them back to their respective cells.

Fortunately, these two long-time friends have cells right next to each other, so their long-planned escape can go smoothly through close coordination.

One night, they begin executing their plan to escape from their cells and this U.S. prison. One of them keeps watch outside the prison bars, while the other tries to find an escape route by dismantling the prison toilet to break through the pipes behind it. While one friend works on prying open the toilet, the other monitors the situation so the guards on duty don't notice the action. The guards pass by the cells several times, and each time, they quickly put the toilet back in place so the guards don't get suspicious.

After several attempts at dismantling the wall, the job is finally done, and they get ready to escape through the prison toilet. Following that, they reach a long, vertical shaft where escaping requires teamwork; they have to work together to climb all the way to the top of the prison building, leaning back-to-back to reach the ventilation shaft and escape.

After successfully overcoming several obstacles inside the prison, they finally make it to the roof. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop, they keep moving until they finally manage to get outside. Sensing something is wrong, the guards discover their empty cells, and the alarm is sounded to alert the entire prison staff that two inmates have escaped. Consequently, they are hunted down by the guards, leading them into the forest surrounding the prison. Long story short, they successfully escape.

Now, the big question is: can you play A Way Out alone without a friend or another player? The answer is no. A Way Out can only be played with two people using two controllers because the gameplay requires simultaneous co-op mechanics for them to escape together. Trying to do it by yourself would obviously be incredibly difficult, as you practically need four hands to complete the game.
